Events Coordinator

Responsibilities include but are not limited to initiating and coordinating new events ideas with directors, researching event venues, and establishing committees.

Eddie Kim - Softball Coordinator ekim@runningroots.org

“Fast” Eddie Kim attends Living Faith Community Church (LFCC) in Bayside, NY, and often serves as the unofficial sports coordinator for his church. A native New Yorker, Eddie attended the College of William and Mary and American University Law School. He works as an attorney, loves baseball and has played in six Running Roots softball tournaments for LFCC. Eddie’s favorite verse is John 11:35 -- “I guess this needs an explanation since many people would answer with a well-known verse like John 3:16 or Philippians 4:13. John 11:35 is the shortest verse in the Bible but just those two words, “Jesus wept,” so it clearly conveys Jesus’ compassion, mercy and love for all of us.” On getting involved with RR, Eddie says, “Well, I figured that since my fellow church members and I have been blessed with the enjoyment of participating in Running Roots for so many years, I should help out to make sure that it will go one for many more years.”

James Wong - Volleyball Coordinator jwong@runningroots.org

James, a longtime RR Volleyball Tournament participant and volunteer, is serving as a liaison between CCHC and Running Roots. James currently attends Overseas Chinese Mission (OCM) and previously attended Newtown Church. He has played in every Running Roots volleyball tournament, and this is his third season helping out with CCHC’s volleyball ministry. On deciding to serve as Volleyball Coordinator, James says, “I wanted to give back to an organization that has given me a lot – fellowship with other churches, opportunities to bond with my teammates, and seeing that the body of Christ extends past just my own church.”

Minyi Shih - Flag Football Coordinator mshih@runningroots.org

Minyi has attended Overseas Chinese Mission (OCM) since January 2007. She's previously coordinated flag football for four seasons with an oganization called HIT Football Leauge, associated with her home church, Harvest International Center in central New Jersey. "I love everything about football -- playing, watching, and organizing. It's a fun team sport to be a part of, so that is why I love doing it," says Minyi. As Coordinator, Minyi will help to set the rules for the flag football tournament, create the schedule, offer guidance and advice, and more.

Fellowship & Volunteer Coordinator

Sook Yee Yeung syeung@runningroots.org

"I wanted to get involved with Running Roots mainly because I like the idea of "purposeful" fellowship. I think the idea of incorporating something that many of us enjoy, like sports, with the intention of glorifying Christ and making it purposeful. I believe it is not only putting the act of worship into action, but really encouraging others to do the same. As Fellowship & Volunteer Coordinator, I hope to help others incorporate worship and true fellowship into health competition. I also hope to spread the word that RR is not only about fellowship and sports, but also using our resources to help other ministries to grow."
