History of Running Roots The summer of 2002 was an active one; beginning with a toss here and a hit there, playing softball turned into a regular Sunday routine at the park. Every week, we would attend service, grab lunch, and head straight to the hitting fields. Soon enough, our game extended to playing friends from other churches. This routine turned passion sparked the idea of putting together a softball tournament - a great way to have some fun and fellowship. Then it happened! On September 7, 2002, eleven churches came out to participate in the softball tournament. Proceeds generated from the registration fees went towards funding both Higher Heights, and establishing what is now, Running Roots, Inc., whose vision is to promote unity and fellowship within the faith community. Current StatusToday, we are based out of New York City with three Board members and volunteers. We are currently filing all the necessary paperwork, ironing out all the details, looking for volunteers and supporters, setting up committees and all the things necessary to fulfill our Mission and Vision. With a budget of close to nothing and a vision to impact the faith community, we trust that we can make a difference. Running Roots relies on the participation, generosity of individuals, and the broader community of faith to fund our vision. We are grateful for the participation and generosity of friends who have supported our vision and community outreach programs. |
