Their goal is to empower individuals to become self-sufficient, to see families healed and restored and to see them move from dependency to dignity; from poverty to prosperity. Volleyball, Baruch COllege Purpose: To encourage fellowship and unity among the faith community 1st Place: Resound (NJ) Donated $500 to ReSOUND Networks The vision of ReSOUND is to make the name of Jesus Christ known among young people everywhere through the relevant message embedded in worship music. Music speaks to the spirit. It resounds in the heart. Used for the purpose of worshipping God, the true power of music can be unleashed through Him. We desire what God desires—to put forth a sound of love and unity for Jesus Christ that reverberates, echoes, and resounds like the clashing of cymbals (Psalm 150:5) into the hearts of a rising generation. During the summer of 2007, the Lord inspired us to plan an outreach concert inviting influential and anointed Christian musicians who love worshipping Jesus through music and lyrics. The vision was of college students, believers and non-believers, gathering to listen to great music with the positive message of Jesus Christ. Softball, Cunningham Park Purpose: To encourage fellowship and unity among the faith community 1st Place: Christian Testimony/Queens Christian Alliance Church Donated $200 to Prodigal House (Long Island Youth For Christ) and $200 to Camp Herald (Chinese Christian Herald Crusades) Prodigal House is a new residential home for boys (ages 12-16), opening January 2009. As a ministry under Long Island Youth For Christ, the Prodigal House is for families where the young sons are acting out, defying their parents and stepping toward trouble in the early stages of adolescence. Prodigal House is an opportunity for the whole family to get help. While the boys stay at the house in Port Jefferson Station, the parents are also involved in counseling. Together Frank and Lucy Summers, the directors of Prodigal House, present God's love and truth to these young men and their parents with the goal of reconciling them to God and to each other. Camp Herald is the physical and practical response to the Chinatown community's need for organized programs that provide spiritual growth, long lasting relationships and "real life" skills through well-planned programs while providing a place for participants to enjoy nature and God's creation outside New York City. At Camp Herald, campers learn to adopt a team-work approach through a variety of camp related programs that bring discipline into campers' lives while nurturing existing skills they may already have. It is also an ideal retreat site for Churches and Fellowship Groups. 2nd Place: Living Faith Community Church Donated $200 to Running Roots Running Roots is a New York City based operation that extends out to strengthen the faith community by promoting inter-church fellowship using public activities and utilizing the funds generated to support various outreach missions.
